Dumbarton Quarry Facility Repurposing Adds Urban Park to East Bay Regional Parks System

In the continuing endeavor to complete the Dumbarton Quarry Closure and donation of the property to the City of Fremont, and the East Bay Regional Parks District, PSEC has begun the first-stage construction of the Recreational Vehicle camping area.  This next phase, which should be turned over to the City and the Regional Park authority at the end of 2017, will consist of over sixty (60) sites with full hook-ups.  Additionally, support infrastructure comprised of two (2) separate shower and restroom buildings, and additional two (2) restroom buildings, and another building containing a store that will provide campers with small items like food, drinks, and other small items that will complement a stay at the park.

This next phase is in keeping with the promise of creating a much-needed outdoor recreation facility in the Bay Trail system, and will become one of the largest urban parks added in the East Bay Regional Parks system in recent memory.  A play area with climbing structures and other playground equipment will be constructed as well.  An important addition to the recreational opportunities in the Bay Area, PSEC is working with several stakeholders to ensure that this facility becomes one of the jewels of the East Bay Regional Parks system.
